Not Intervention, Intercession

Yesterday we were downtown taking care of a few errands, walking from place to place down the street.

We got to an intersection that is very busy, one of the busiest in the city, I'd say. There are a lot of people walking across the 4, but turned into 8, lanes of traffic with us. My husband and my oldest are standing in front of me and our youngest. All the sudden the crowd begins to cross the road. My husband and our oldest goes with them. But I hesitate and pull our youngest back. We get back to a 'safe' part of the street and the cars start going by again. My husband and our oldest made it to the middle of the street with the rest of the crowd.

So, there they were, standing in the middle of a very busy street with several lanes of traffic going in front of them and behind them, when all of the sudden a cab comes flying through the intersection and hits a motorcycle.

I see all this happen only, maybe, 20 feet from where my husband and our child are standing. I start screaming, "Jesus! Jesus! help them, help them" (everyone stares at me, we are in a very strict religious area of town!) Before I could even see what happened a bus pulled in between me and my view of where my husband and oldest were standing, so I couldn't see them.

Finally the bus pulled away, and I could see the motorcycle and driver were actually thrown AWAY from the direction of my husband and oldest child. PTL!!!! In that moment, images were flashing through my mind of that bus moving and me seeing them on the ground. I don't think my heart even beat during those moments until I could see what had happened.

The driver of the motorcycle sat up in the middle of the road and gobs, I mean a ton, of people immediately gathered around him and got him off the road.

The cab slowed down and then sped off. Infuriating!

I got to the other side of the street with my husband and our kids to see a SWARM of warm-hearted, caring Indian people help a stranger by carrying him off the road and getting him sat down on a stool on the road that was at a little stand. The owner of the stand didn't even chase people away, he immediately started helping this man as well.

These were a few tense moments. I, honestly, didn't know what had happened to some of my family for a few moments. I don't ever want to relive that again!

I know that many people have gone through situations where 'the worst' did happen. I am very thankful, that for some reason, yesterday this wasn't the outcome. It's undeserved grace.

We know that God is able to intervene and stop or change any situation He wants too ... but He doesn't always. He is sovereign. He has granted us our free will and therefore we use it. Even when He doesn't intervene, He is always interceding for us. Sometimes it's His intercession that gets us through, not His intervention.

Which, honestly, is more powerful to me.

I live in a place where none of the gods they worship can "do" anything for them. My God is able. He is Almighty. He is always interceding for me, always working on my behalf and I deserve none of it. I don't have to perform certain rituals and acts to satisfy my God. I am already loved and accepted by God because of the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Now that's something to share!

So thank you, once again. Thank you for continuing to lift us up and pray protection over us. Once again, those Guardian Angels were with us, working overtime.

Oh My goodness...It is more heart-wrenching hearing you WRITE this than even hearing you TALK about it...

I didn't realize how close you were to all of it when we talked yesterday...

Wow.

Isn't it terrifying how a person's world can change...INSTANTLY?

That is something I have taken with me from my April accident.

The two woman killed in the April accident had NO warning...

We've got to be doing the RIGHT things, with the RIGHT motivations, and the RIGHT intentions...

Even though we all mess up every day....the intent of our hearts matters so much...

because...in an instant, as you know, things can change.

So happy (beyond happy really) that you and yours were spared.

From Darlene:

So happy you could report this incident with a happier ending than it could have been. From seeing your videos, I know how dangerous it is for you guys to cross a street or even drive down the street.

Your guardian angels did have your families back, which is what God promised he would do as we keep you in our prayers.

You were right to cry out to Jesus. I heard a preacher one time say that our weapons of our warfare are the name of Jesus, His word, and His shed blood.

It was so heart warming to know that everyone around was willing to help the man on the motorcycle.

I know God has his hedge of protection around you and your family, and that brings such comfort while you guys are there.

Have a good week.

Love you,

Darlene

Wow That was definitely a close call. I can't imagine seeing that and then not knowing the outcome for a few moments. That had to be heartstopping. Glad everyone was okay though ^_^
