I had about an hour or so before I needed to pick up our oldest from language, so I walked around a big market and these pics are from there.
They are selling beautiful fruits and vegetables on one side of the street, but then on the other side there is trash everywhere and children and adults are picking through it. There is an expensive car coming driving down the street, honking at this rickshaw to get over so it can pass. This man is obviously working very hard, I think the car should give him the right of way!

A couple 'rites of passage' have happened this week for us.
First, we have officially completed our first (of many) terms of language study. We are thrilled to have this under our belt and moving on! We have recently had some wonderful new colleagues join us here, and because they are just learning and new it has helped us realize how much we have learned this past year in language. It's really hard to see sometimes, we only see what we don't know.
The other day I was riding with some of our new colleagues in an autorickshaw and I spoke to the driver in the native language here about where to stop and when. An Indian man got so excited and complimented me very highly on my language. I was beaming! How little does he or the friends I was with know, though, how much work that has taken! Lots of sweat and tears (haha lots of sweat with the temps here!!!).
Secondly, our youngest started school this week! It's just a half day, and we weren't even planning on finding a school ... but it just kind of fell in our lap. We are so thrilled that this first week has gone so well. We don't expect a perfect experience with all the cultural differences and things we need to learn, but we feel as though it's a great fit and God is helping us navigate through this. Our youngest is really enjoying it and has already made some friends!
Thank you for your continued prayers. As we begin our second year here, we are excited to see what all God has in store to Share the Light of Life!

I can't believe that you have almost been there a year.
Take care, and remember you are always in our thoughts and prayers.
