How God Takes Care of Us!

I am so humbled and just amazed how God continues to work in every situation and takes care of us (me) in ways that I cannot believe. He is always working on our behalf, this I know for sure!!! I know this, and believe it and rely on it without any doubt, but there are those few times when I actually get to see it happen with my human eyes and get to realize just how good He is to us. Tonight was one of those nights.

There was a lot going on. We had a language class at 6pm, our kids were supposed to be at a play practice from 5-6pm, I had to find a 'costume' for another program our youngest is going to be in that I just received a note from school today saying it needed to be brought to school tomorrow, a friend is returning here after being away for over a year so we were planning on going to the airport to pick her up, and there is an incredibly important and immensely special program going on in the Red Light District that our girls and women had been working on for a long time, it's one of the highlights of the year. So needless to say, it was going to be a cram packed evening.

That all came to a complete halt. Before all this started tonight, my husband took our kids out to the village for their volleyball lesson. Volleyball is the seasonal sport right now, so one of the better players is giving lessons and practices for the kids. Our kids were joining them. I decided since I was by myself to grab a cab and try to hit the closest store that I thought might have what I needed to get for the costume to send to school tomorrow. On my way out, I called my husband to let him know what I was doing.

He answers the phone and all I can hear is our youngest crying a cry that I know instantly is a 'very bad cry.' kwim? It's not the 'I'm crying b/c I'm tired' or 'I'm just crying b/c I want to' kinda cry - I know when I heard this cry that something was drastically wrong.

My husband said that the 'coach' spiked a ball really fast and hard and our youngest went in front of it to get it, but then instead of being able to hit it he/she (don't want to give away too much info on this public blog!) just stuck his/her hand out and missed and the ball bent his/her hand and wrist back and whatever all else. The pain was immediate.

Well, picture the fact that they are way out in the village on bicycles. My husband said he was going to bring him/her home on the bike! My stomach cringed thinking of him/her having to hold on to the bike on all these incredibly bumpy roads.

I ran out to try to meet them. Finally found them, got him/her off the bike and carried to the house.

My mind is racing b/c here going to the hospital is potentially quite the ordeal. You just never know what you will find. We know that one hospital does have a 24 hour emergency, but most of them don't. So I knew that we would probably go there.

We get him/her home and settled with a bag of frozen corn on his/her arm and some medicine. We are supposed to be at our language class in about an hour and half. So I call the other lady that's a part of the class to tell her we won't be able to come and why. She then asks me if I want to talk to her husband. OH YEAH! He's a doctor! Why didn't I think of that?

He calls me a few minutes later. Asks all kinds of questions about how it happened, a description of his/her arm now, etc.. etc... He then says that he thinks we can hold off going to the emergency if we want, that it could just be ligament damage or a sprain. He said if the pain is controlled and not miserable, then he would wait b/c the hardest part for us at the hospital is probably going to be finding someone to accurately interpret the x-rays. He said he could go with us if we need to go b/c he can do that, of course.

WOW! I went from trying to just find a 24 hour emergency room and praying for favor on the roads to get there and at the hospital to get a dr that we can understand and will understand us ... to having an American dr call ME that communication was certainly no problem either way and we had favor on the roads too since we didn't even have to go out! God went above and beyond! That just how He takes care of us, isn't it? I know it may seem small, but to us this is huge. To be able to talk to a dr on the phone and not have to go through the ordeal of getting to and being at the hospital here is such a relief.

Happy to report now, that he/she seems to be doing A LOT better! Still monitoring it and waiting to see how things progress tomorrow and all. But continually amazed and humbled by our living God!

So sorry to hear that your little one got hurt. He/She will be in my prayers.

It sure was an answer to prayer for your doctor friend to tell you what to do.

God is so faithful to us and he said he will always make a way of excape for us.

I'm believing with you that everything is going to be alright.

Love you,

Darlene
