Here is the bathroom sink on the train:
Here's a picture of a little boy I saw looking out the window of the train:
He was so cute. He was just watching everything go by. He was smiling and waving like he knew everyone!
Right now we are at a hotel in an area that has a very high population of the people group that we have been lead too. Just being here has been good for us. There is a lot less English spoken here, so it's been hard to communicate. For instance, when I checked in (the rest of the family was still on the way here from the airport) I asked if the room had 2 beds and they said yes. I get checked in and go up to our room and there is one bed. I call the front desk and explain who is coming again and what kind of room we need, so they send me to another room. I walk in and there are 2 beds, but they are both twin beds! hmpf. I call again. Explain again ... finally walk into the room we have now that has 2 double beds! Success! Here is a picture out the window of our hotel room right now:
For dinner, we tried to go to Pizza Hut ... unsuccessfully. We had seen one not far from the hotel on our way in. So we go outside and talk to several baby taxi drivers and none of them have a clue what we are talking about. So we finally give up and go inside to the restaurant in the hotel. Our oldest loves hamburgers. There are not hamburgers available (made of beef) in the areas that we have been in at least, so our oldest decided to be brave and try a chicken burger! It was good! Here's a picture of it (don't know why it's turned, it's not like that in windows media!):
The fam is getting over their illnesses a little bit today I think. They have all been on antibiotics for 24 hours now, so that is helping. Thank you for lifting us up, we certainly don't want to be set back with illness right now. We are finally getting over our jetlag and we would just like a few days of feeling 'normal' for a while.
Tomorrow we will be going to Bangalore to meet with some others that are here with us... so it's been really good to get to see other parts of India so quickly. It really has helped us put the area that we are at in perspective as to how that part compares to the rest of the country. We heard that there is a bowling alley there ... wow ... we've never been so excited about a bowling alley! Our kids love to bowl and they always were excited to go in the States, but now it's a whole other level of excitement. It's amazing how quickly seemingly simple things can bring great joy ... yeah!

Glad to see more information today. Chicken Burgers don't sound too bad. It brought back a memory for me of when I was in Mexico for an extended period of time and how I started missing just the basic foods we have here. It felt like everything was some type of taco they ate for all meals. Ha
I'm going to an Indian Restaurant this week in honor of your adventure and mission. I do LOVE good Indian food.
I'm a little confused as to the traveling and where you will finally be settled for a time. Can you go into more of those details? Just wondering
Can we send a package? Where?
Dawna
Thanks for more pictures and another update. Good news that you're back together...and feeling better. Thankful for that! The chicken burger looked good! Glad he found something he liked. The picture from the rooftop was amazing! You are getting such an introduction to India. Wow! The language issue sounds challenging but you will pick it up eventually.
We did birthday shopping today for Emma. Ate breakfast out at our usual spot. Checked the computer as soon as we came in...and found more news about India. Much more interesting than the RNC!
Love you all and praying for safe travel and good health.
from Back Home in Indiana
Thank you for posting your stories. It's so good to hear from you guys. We're praying for you guys. Tell the boys we said hi too. I hope they're enjoying the adventure. You guys are incredible. I imagine that God is very proud of your faithfulness. We'll be praying for you all to be healthy and for God to provide exactly what you need. It seems He is already doing that before you even ask. Much love! Mallorie & Joey
HA!!!! I just figured out who 'back home in Indiana' is ... oh wow ... I must be more tired than I realize! That usual spot for bfast sounds really good right now! Glad we are more interesting than the RNC ... shocking! ;-) Is the satellite fixed yet? How did that go?
Dawna - yes we are moving around a bit right now just b/c of bad timing of when we got here all these meetings were planned for the next week. I will email you privately and explain our actual location. Going to an Indian restaurant in our honor? WOW we feel special! I just had chicken Nawarbi (the w is a "v" sound) and it was delicious, or chicken tikka is good - a little spicy. The Nawarbi used to be a high class group of people (well, still are) and they made their sauces from the finest ingredients and much more intricate that most, so they are very good. I will send our address in the email too.
Yes, Mal & Joe He is providing ... you guys are wonderful examples of that too.
This is really great to see what you guys are up to. Am grateful to know how you are doing.
Hopefully your apartment flat will be more than adequate for your needs;for you are deserving to live in good conditions.
Sorry for no Pizza Hut for you though. This would be an interesting dining experience to learn about.
Would love to know how the younger of your group is doing w/all the surroundings and what must be going on in their minds.
Thank you so much for keeping us posted. M & B
