Ummm. No, not yet ...

Still no a/c's installed.

Unbelievable!

Well actually it is believable ... we are in a completely different culture.

The installers came Monday ... the helper showed up 2 hours before the main installer, but just sat around and waited until the other guy got there ... when the lead guy finally got there they worked for about 45 minutes, asked for more money because they had to have more pipe ... and then left.

They said that they would be back today.

They weren't.

No one came.

The story we got was that there was a traffic jam and then some kind of accident and they had no one to send. Based on their track record, we aren't sure we got the straight story, but the bottom line is they didn't come and nothing got accomplished with getting the a/c's installed ... this is day 5.

If these guys don't show up tomorrow (which is then day 6!), we are half tempted to take it all back to the store ... but then what?

Start all over. good grief ...

Good news though ... we did get fans installed today! A worker came and worked hard! We were so impressed. He installed ceiling fans and exhaust fans all by himself without even one break. He got a tip. ;-) If we could only get him to install the a/c's, then things would be happening!

So our saga continues and we are thankful to have this to deal with. We could be in a paper shack on the side of the road like millions of others are. It's a little easier to keep perspective when you are surrounded by such desperation the minute you walk out your door.

Wow! That is crazy.
We got your newsletter a couple days ago from before you left. I think someone resent it, because it had gone to our old address. It was nice to see the pictures. We're still praying for you guys!
Love you...

Hope you can get your a/c installed soon so you can get moved into your flat. At least you have fans.

I liked your comment about being thankful compared to how everyone around you has to live.

Thank you for all your posting and pictures. It helps to know how to pray for you guys and the people of India.

Love you,

Darlene

The experiences you are having leave us amazed at what it must be like facing these things "one day at a time" in such a different culture. Your comment about "perspective" is so true. Wow! Loved the picture in a recent blog of yours of the child's hand in the father's hand and the image of trust and love it showed. How beautiful to see that coming through in spite of the difficulties!
