We woke up this morning, and many mornings, hearing the call to prayer.
If you aren't sure what this sounds like or what it's about, go here:

There's a great simple explanation and a wave file that you can play and hear it.
I see so much desire to find God here. There are so many outward displays of seeking. In America I think a lot of our spiritual seeking stays very personal and it's not something that we 'put out there' for everyone to see.
Not here.
I admire their search.
I admire their priority on spiritual matters.
I want everyone to respond to that vacuous place that resides in all of us that only our true living God can fill!
But not with calls to prayer and puja festivals.
Our language teacher, who has just accepted the Living God, said the other day that she can't believe that for so many years she spent over an hour everyday trying to appease her god by making sure that the idols and decorations were placed perfectly in her home.
Then she said ...
"Now I can speak to God while I am making dinner. I don't have to DO anything for Him to love me. And He speaks to me right there, in the kitchen!"
Now, THAT'S what I am talking about!
That's freedom my friend! True freedom! PTL!

One disclaimer:
I have not read EVERYTHING on that website ... and I just read something kinda weird on it, but the page about the call to prayer is valid. Beyond that, don't get too much into what they are saying.
I have a great link that I can send you for very valid and up to date info on this entire topic, I just can't post it here. Send me an email at reachtoindia@yahoo.com if you want it!
I loved the story of your language teacher accepting God and realizing she doesn't have to do anything to appease the one true God. He will always love us unconditionally.
I'm sure hearing her testimony encouraged you guys to know why you are there, and how you want many others to find that same truth in God.
Love you,
Darlene
You know I'm just the one to read. "I've seen something crazy" Therefore I've been reading it cover to cover. What is it about me????? Okay another therapy session. What an interesting thought however. I had thought about Ishmael but not in that context. Cool. I have to say girl I read for about one hour from a tour site of a guy who traveled all over your area. I'm amazed as to your commitment. What a blessing you are and will be to these people. Are you bothered by the pollution? What happens during the call to prayer when folks are driving and such?

What a neat transformation you are honored to witness in your language teachers!!!
I think 'someone above' put them there to inspire your efforts there and let you see the end results of what your family is working so hard towards...kwim?
We miss you.
Aven was in the big ol' van today and she just said out of the blue, stuff about you guys being "bye-bye". Then she said, "See you soon!"
I think she misses you guys more than we do even!!!
sigh.
But we are all exceptionally proud of you guys...
This is your MOM...
I too loved the comment from your language teacher! I agree with Darlene...it is what you are all about there...
Anyone out there reading this...please pray that a box I sent yesterday to this family and all makes it there, number one and number two that it will get there before Christmas!! I think I did all the wrong things in sending it...so I will learn the more I do that!!
Thanks!
Debbie G.
PS Stayed tuned to so we can all read and rejoice when she says that the "eagle has landed"!!! (Does anyone remember that phrase??)
I copied and pasted this so I could edit our names out ... reachtoindia ;-)
I loved the story of the FREEDOM your language teacher has discovered! Proud of you! Rachel
