We Went To A Movie!

We are taking this week off from homeschool and language study, it's Christmas break!

YEAH!

We all need it I think.

So last week, I noticed that the movie Madagascar 2 was going to be at a movie theater this week. We have not been to a movie since we have been here, so we decided to all go and see what it is like to go to a movie in India!

It was a lot of fun, but a few 'funny' things ...

First, we had assigned seats! hahahahaha The theater looked very similar to theaters in America (we were very surprised about this!), but when you walked inside the theater after checking your ticket for the 3rd time (remember layers, layers, layers, here...) the theater employee told us where to sit.

That would have been fine except, it was a pretty big theater and EVERYONE was sitting in the top 3 or 4 rows.

hmpf.

Let alone it smelled so bad! shew ...

The lights came on for a second and I literally couldn't tell what color the chairs were 'supposed' to be, besides dirt black color. eckkkkk....

So, after the movie started, we got up and moved a few rows down. Thankfully no one seemed to care.

We think that they assign seats so that they only have to clean certain parts of the theater each time, which isn't a bad idea. BUT it is obvious that they ALWAYS use the same area for EVERY movie. I noticed when we were walking out and the lights were on, that the chairs in the rows closer to the front looked like brand new.

I know better, but I was all set for some good buttery movie theater popcorn,

yeah ... ummmm ... no ... they don't have that.

They do have popcorn though. You can choose to get it plain, spicy cheese, or chili cheese flavored.

Ummm ... plain please!!!!

Actually with a little salt, it wasn't bad at all. I was just hoping for all the butter and fat to go along with it!

So the movie begins ... yep the ACTUAL movie we came to see.

Not one preview! I was actually not sure for a minute if this was the actual movie because I was so confused that there weren't any previews! WOW! That was great!

Then as we are watching the movie, all the sudden the screen says:

INTERMISSION

what?

excuse, me .... there's an 'intermission'?

Yep, sure enough.

It was obvious that everyone else knew this was coming because before we had even figured out what was going on they were flying down the stairs to get snacks or go to the bathroom or something.

We started laughing our heads off! HA!!!!

So there we sat in the movie theater during intermission

Who would have thought????!!!!

But really, it's kinda a good gig for the theater, because a lot of the people came back with more food and drinks so it gives them more sales!

And how many times have we been in a movie with a little one that really needs to use the restroom, but no one wants to leave and miss the movie ... so this gave time to have a restroom break too. I think it was maybe 5 or 10 minutes, not too long.

It was hilarious though ... next time we will be ready!

The movie was good too, especially for a 'kid movie' ... lots of time I am bored to tears, but this one was really funny and actually had a plot!

So, if you go to a movie and they offer chili cheese popcorn, there's no previews and there's an intermission ...

you know you are in India.

;-)

Oh and btw if you're curious, it was only 600 rupees for all of us including snacks! That's about $12. woo hoo!

Merry Christmas

We are thinking of you! Jack picked out your location last night on the map and we talked about it a little. Tonight at our Christmas Eve service a beautiful older gentleman from India sang What Child Is This in Hindi. It was special hearing his old little creaky voice with such emotion. He is such a special man it made me cry.
Chili Popcorn I think would smell like BO OOHH

Cool Breezes to you!

LOL! My mom and I went to a movie while we were home for Christmas, and the tickets were $9.50 each! Not to mention another $20 for popcorn and a drink.

Home Sweet Home :-)
