We realized from the responses how 'in-culturated' we are becoming about simple things. We truly are THRILLED about our oven, which we see now is kinda 'funny.' A year or two ago we wouldn't have had much thought about our oven, but today it's a huge deal! HA, it's amazing how slowly but surely your 'normal' view of things just continues to shift a little and then we are operating under a whole new paradigm before we even realize it!
... as I write that I am reminded that that is how sin is too ... if we keep ourselves 'unchecked' we can unknowingly (and unfortunately knowingly sometimes) change our idea of what 'sin' is and then all of the sudden we are doing all kinds of things because our views just changed a little. How much Satan wants that foothold ... we pray that everyone we know is able to fight this battle and not let him have even the smallest victory. As our 4 year old has learned from Bibleman, "Fight the good fight of faith!" He loves to go through the house yelling this at the top of his lungs! Didn't mean to digress, but this thought is so true.
Ok, so after we laughed at ourselves as to how excited we are over our oven (although we will continue to be ridiculously excited!!!) we had another great thing happen!
Is it possible?
Yes it is!
The POSTMAN came to our door today. No joke!
I was so excited when I looked out and saw him there!
But then he had nothing in his hands ... until I realized that he was explaining to me that I needed to come to the post office and pick up my 'parcels' because they were too heavy for him to deliver. HA! Ok, sure no problem!
So I went.
5 boxes!!! Yes 5. I was so shocked!
Everything from a pink Peyton Manning jersey (wow, couldn't believe it!!!), to homemade cookies, to a bunch of wrapped Christmas presents, to wonderful books and sermon series, to more than we could ask for!!! We are so happy to get all of this!
It makes us feel so good to know that people would do all of this for us. It really means a lot, we can't even describe how it makes us feel. Knowing that people are still thinking and caring for us even though we are this far away somehow makes the distance a little smaller. Opening those boxes and seeing how everything was sent with such love encourages us so much.
We feel really bad about all the money being spent on postage though, good grief! We are figuring out some more cost effective ways to receive things from the States. Stay tuned ...
So, 5 down ...
HA! Take THAT crazy postal system!!!!

So glad you finally got most of your Christmas packages, and to hear how excited you were with everything you received.
Also your analogy of sin was so true, and how we have to keep fighting that good fight of faith.
So glad your teaching your children that good fight of faith by your actions.
Have a great week.
Love you,
Darlene
