The Results Are In ...

Well it was a smashing success.

We set out as fast as we could from our doorstep as we took off for our first ever auto rickshaw scavenger hunt!

Our oldest made the list (with a little help from Mom)... here's what we had to find:

1. Mishti (sweet) yogurt
2. 3 eggs brought back unbroken
3. a red race car
4. a knife (our son collects pocket knives, a sneaky way to add to his collection!)
5. a red flower
6. A picture with one person from the team with a cow

We had a rs 500 limit (about $10) and we could only speak the language that we are learning to buy things. I was racking my brain to come up with the word for knife since we just learned it this week! aaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!

So the teams were Mom and the youngest and Dad and the oldest kiddo. Supposedly since Mom has been out doing a lot of the shopping, I had some kind of 'advantage' so having the younger one with me was to 'balance' it out ... ha

So we started ...

Mom's team ran out and jumped into an auto rickshaw and took it about 15 mins away to a market area that has a huge assortment of things. We found the knife, the car, and the flower there. It took quite a bit of searching, but it was worth it!

Unfortunately we ran into Dad's team while we were there! Great minds think alike I guess!

Mom's team took off in another auto to go in search of a cow ... finally found one!

Last was the eggs and yogurt.

It was getting dark and our time limit of an hour and half was almost up, so we took off in another auto back towards our flat and stopped at two stores on the way.

We found the eggs, but no yogurt.

We had no idea where 'the boys' were, so we decided to head back home without the yogurt since our time was about up.

We get in another auto and get to our complex.

We run all the way to our door and find that 'the boys' aren't here yet! YEAH!

They come back just a few minutes later and they couldn't find the yogurt either so...

MOM'S TEAM WON!!! WOO HOO!!!

This is just all in a little effort to keep us busy and not focus on the fact that Grandma and Grandpa aren't here anymore ... the left last night. They are hopefully in the last leg of the their almost 30 hours of flying. We appreciate them doing all this for us so much! We miss them already a ton, but we won't let the fact that they had to leave steal the all the joy from having them here!!! We can't wait to hear from them and know that they are back.

Thanks for lifting us up, we have felt it!

That sounds like it was a great idea! I bet you all had a bit of fun doing that. Plus what a great way to incorporate the language that you're learning. Perhaps that'll lead to more phrases that you might need to learn and can use on the next scavenger hunt you guys go on...if there is a next one that is ^_^
