Answered Prayer & Good Food

That's about as good as it gets, right? A prayer that's been answered and good food on top of it.

Ok, I'll start with the answered prayer, of course the more important of the two.

It all started with knowing our 'timeline' of when we will be leaving for India. It was just this month that we were told that we would be leaving very soon (just waiting on God's timing for the last $200 of our budget! yipppeee!). As soon as that comes in and our cash budget is met, we will be getting our airline tickets and be on our way. This is the first time in over a year that we have had any real idea of when we might actually be going. It's great to somewhat know this timing and be able to prepare towards it.

Knowing this, we have kinda kicked into 'high gear' talking to our kids about it and trying to get inside their heads even more so than before of what they are thinking and what their expectations are, etc... More so with the older one than the youngest.

We were talking about how when the one of us (sorry, but we aren't using names here!) visited that area of the world years ago, they had watched several videos before they left. This made the adjustment of being there a little easier because it did look a lot like what was on the video. The video just made it a little more familiar.

So, it became apparent to us that we needed to get some video of the exact area that we will be able to watch it together.

There are a lot of videos out there of this area, but I wanted something more specific.

I was thinking of the airport, the church we will be partnering with, the market we would most likely go to, etc..., etc...

Today we get a phone call. It's a simple phone call, but nonetheless totally amazing.

One of the "m's" that we will be working with called to get our stateside mailing address because they want to send us some videos of the area we will be in that might be helpful to watch before we leave. That was what they said on the phone!

Really?? !!!!! Yes, please send those videos, thank you very much!

Now, it might seem like a small thing - but this is huge to us.

God knew a desire of our heart and then totally took care of us without us lifting a finger or even making our request known. Unbelievable!

It's kinda getting my attention a little bit, like we really need to watch these videos!

We will let you know when we get them.

yeah!

Ok, now onto the good food.

As I mentioned in my last post, it was our 15 year wedding anniversary recently.

Ok, quick timeout...

I have to say I was kinda surprised at the reaction I got when I told some people this.

It was, like, "wow, 15 years - that's great, that's forever!"

Really? Is 15 years now considered 'forever' to be married in our society?

If so, that's sad.

Some of our family will be married 41 years in a month. Now, that's a long time for a marriage.

Please don't let us slide down this slippery slope of thinking! 15 years is just a drop in the bucket!!!!

Ok - time back in ...

For our anniversary we went to my favorite place to eat. It was so great.

The Old Spaghetti Factory.

luv it. !!!!!!

Great food, wonderful atmosphere, reasonably priced, and just fun!

I got what I get every time, and what I can't get anywhere else:

Browned butter & Mizithra Cheese Spaghetti. YUM!

(I have even already eaten my leftovers ... )

On top of it all we got right in without a wait, that's never happened before.

They must have 'known' we were coming.

HA!

Then we walked around downtown for a little while, and stormed Borders with our 25% off coupons. ha ha

We realized that in the next 15 years, we will have served 3 terms overseas and both of our kids will be out of the house. That's crazy.

Cherish every moment!!!

Good times and our God that takes care of us in even the 'smallest' of ways. It doesn't get any better than that.

With grateful hearts ~~~~

Hi Guys,

I enjoyed reading your post. Isn't it just like God to answer our prayers before we even get a chance to ask him for an answer.

Glad you got to go to your favorite place for your Anniversary, and that everything turned out good. You are right about the world thinking that 15 years is a long time for a marriage. How sad is that. Their mind set is O well if we don't get along or if we aren't happy we will just divorce. Our original wedding vows say till death do us part, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health. God says the two cleave to one another and become one. If people would only read God's road map (the bible) they would know how to live their lives. My Mom and Dad were married for 72 years before my Mom died.

I pray you have a good holiday weekend.

Love you,

Darlene
