As time goes by ...

It is interesting to me how many times I hear people say to us that they too have a heart and a desire to do overseas work, like what we are doing, someday. Many people that say this talk about how they have always wanted to do this but it just hasn't happened, time just keeps going by.

We understand this completely. It's all about patience.

There's been 20 years since we initially felt led to do what we are doing now. 20 years!!!

But ever since that night when it was crystal clear, this passion has been brewing.

Has it always been brewing to the point of 'boiling over' in us?

No.

Sometimes it's just been a 'slow simmer.'

Sometimes it's just a matter of putting one foot in front of the other just to get through the season of life that you are in, and that's ok. That's called being faithful.

Then it seems like all of the sudden (although it's been simmering for a long time) this passion turns into a full boil!

I always feel so deeply for these people that are in the 'simmer' stage. We were there for a long time. The best thing we could ever say is, "don't give up!" It will happen, it will come to pass!

God gives us dreams and desires for a reason. He uses each of us to reach into a certain part of His world. Whatever passion and desires He gives us, it is up to us to be obedient to fulfill them. 9 times out of 10 it doesn't happen how or when we think. That doesn't mean it's not supposed to, though.

It just means that we have to keep being faithful and one day, usually when we are least expecting it, things will 'click' ... things will take shape ... and viola! That season is upon you and you can jump in with both feet.

So whether you are at a simmer or at a full rolling boil with what you have been called to do, just continue to be faithful in all things. Phil 1:6 ... be confident in this, he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion ...

Great post. I second the motion of everything you said. We all need to not give up and keep on keeping on .

Praying for your soon departure as I know you have to be very anxious about leaving.

Love you,

Darlene

PS I liked your picture of the little boiling tea pot.
